Angela and I were thinking that this year's Corndog Festival will be retro music which I posted for radio bastet. I'm loving it. I really like how short a lot of it is.
We'll be a bunch of pretty I Dream of Jeannie wannabes dancing to wonderful old music. It's going to be the most fun show EVER!

Fri, January 7, 2005 - 9:02 PMWe're very excited about it. Imagine the Lucky Charms colors and the coordinating shapes as the cutouts. No lie, that was our latest plan.

Sat, January 8, 2005 - 12:53 AMWait a minute. What's this about Lucky Charms shapes? I thought it was gonna be "I Dream of Jeanie"!
I'd better still get to wear a pillbox hat.

Re: A Note on that Great Older Music
Sat, January 8, 2005 - 12:25 PMThe corndog festival is in September and will probably be held a the Lakewood theatre. It started 10 years ago as a birthday party and has just gotten out of hand in the most delightful way.
People make diarramas with corndog themes. Last year there was one called The Machurian Corndidate. There was a Virgin of Guadalupe and a double helix. These are made either starring or with corndogs. Then there are films sent in and there's a live band later. Cigarette Girls who actually have corndog merchandise and not cigarettes. There are free corndogs and there were a couple of other places that had food too. It's $20 to get in but what a crazy night! There must have been a thousand people walking through that place last time.
So we get to be as cornball as we like. Hence, the I Dream of Jeannie ripoff costumes with the Lucky Charms theme. If I can figure out the costume change, I want to do a Carmen Miranda rip-off to an Esquivel song called Mucha Muchacha. It's our big 15 minutes of fame. We don't get paid (unless you count the corndogs) but people came up to us all night telling us how great we were. We left with larger hat sizes for sure.
Man, I'm excited all over again. -

Sat, January 8, 2005 - 1:19 PMAnd we got to be in the video/documentary thing. (Well, they filmed us, anyway. We'll see if we actually make it into the film.)
And the corndogs made it all worthwhile. Mmmm... Corndogs.
