Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 7:38 AMThanks for joining us last night, ladies! I loved your set and I'm so glad I finally got to see you perform. It was worth the wait! -

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 9:03 AMThank you for inviting us! We had a good time and enjoyed the performances. I think you did a great job getting this organized and also being smart enough to have that extra stereo at the ready.
I almost felt like singing "We Shall Overcome" for Obsidia. I bet she would have like that. -

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 9:47 AMYou know, I think I might have thrown a stomping 5-year-old fit if that had happened to me. :)

Fri, May 5, 2006 - 11:46 AM**best MLK impression**
I have a dream that one day my fellow dancers will not be judged by their lack of sequins but the content of their choreography...
it's official...I have completely lost it! -

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 11:52 AMNO MA'AM.....
SHouldn't you be saying "I have a dreamhouse..."
lol
You know what's so funny, is people that don't know those of us that dance "outside the box" think that what they say actually MATTERS in any way, shape or form to us..I chortle with great mirth and contempt at their small mindedness....
Okay, now I have officially lost it too!!! -

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 12:09 PMExactly!! Half the time I think regular people don't even actually know what they're looking at. It's like their eyes glass over and all they see is moving butts.
I have an idea!! We need to come up with a name for non-dance folk (as in Muggles). Suggestions? -

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 12:24 PMthat's a great idea...begins to ponder and marinate on this idea... -

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 2:22 PMDuffers? Because they're sitting on their duffs watching us bust a move.
As for outside the box people periodically give us sh*t for being larger sized women. In our case the good FAR outweighs the bad (like my pun?) and those are the ones that count anyway.
I've had people say right to my face that my style is a fantasy dance. I figure the only real fantasy is the dreaming and not doing dance. It's all good to me, I love all styles of this dance. -

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 3:20 PMIt's a fantasy dance...
That's when you say "Baby I know I'm your fantasy..I've got real things to tend to...sorry..Oh wait, you were trying to say what I do is fantasy? I assumed you dragged me into your pathetic little world again"
Yeah I can be a real b*tch at times.... hehehehe -

Fri, May 5, 2006 - 8:04 PMHow about something like, "Does it involve whips and chains? Ooooo, tell me more!"

Re: Just Fab at Byblos Thursday, May 4th!
Tue, May 9, 2006 - 10:47 PMYes you are right regular people do not know what you are doing, that is the problem. Good dancing is just that, no matter if you have on rhinestones or not. If you want to dance in the belly dance clubs and restaurants , people expect to see belly dance not dancing outside the box as you call it. I think any type of modern dance goes over better with a art audience that has a open mind for new creations.
