Last weekend Anajahela and I went to Tahiya Hassan's drum solo workshop. It kicked major petooty! It made me realize how much of that Egyptian style I've forgotten while pursuing Gypsy dance.
I managed to keep up and only feel like a creaky marionette on a couple of moves. I thought that Tahiya was a good teacher, in fact a great teacher for me. She managed to get across moves that I didn't think I'd even have a shot in the dark of learning.
Anyway, Tahiya kicked ass! I'm going back to her 6-week course in September.

Re: Wow!
Tue, May 24, 2005 - 1:03 PMI'm sorry I missed it. I wanted to go, but after Tribal Pura, I decided I needed a nice bubble bath instead of another workshop -- even a two-hour one.
I do enjoy Tahiya's teaching style, and I'm very much looking forward to the September class. -
